Dr. Rollett Pruyn

Veterinary medicine is in Dr. Rollett Pruyn's blood. Born and raised in Missoula, he followed his father Dr. Earl Pruyn — WSU 1949, founder of Pruyn Veterinary Hospital — into the profession. Dr. Rollett graduated from Colorado State University in 1981 and has been practicing in western Montana ever since.

In 2003, Dr. Pruyn co-founded Blue Mountain Veterinary Hospital and Surgery PLLC alongside Dr. Dick Richardson. He practices on all species and, off the clock, runs a commercial beef herd — so he understands cattle ranching from both sides of the fence.

Dr. Dick Richardson RETIRED

Dr. Dick Richardson was born to be a large-animal veterinarian. A Missoula native, he spent every spare moment at his grandfather's farm in Kalispell before earning his undergraduate degree through Washington State and the University of Montana, then graduating from Colorado State Veterinary School in 1980.

After 30+ years of practicing veterinary medicine in this community, you can count on Dick to tell you exactly what he thinks — which is exactly why his clients and patients love him.

Dr. Trevor Ferguson

If you run horses or cattle in western Montana, Dr. Trevor Ferguson's specialty is exactly what you're looking for. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State College of Veterinary Medicine (2003–2007), then completed an additional Equine internship at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 before joining Blue Mountain Veterinary Hospital in 2013.

Dr. Ferguson specializes in reproduction medicine and wound management. Since joining BMVH he has added advanced equine and canine reproductive techniques — embryo transfer, trans-cervical AI (canine), and cryopreservation of semen — and is PennHIP certified for canine hip evaluation.

Dr. Ferguson belongs to the professional organizations:

  • AAEP – American Association Equine Practitioners
  • MVMA – Montana Veterinary Medical Association
  • AVMA – American Veterinary Medical Association

Dr. Ferguson has additional interests in training his German Wirehaired Pointers in AKC and NAVHDA. When he isn't working with patients you will find him spending time with his growing family or training dogs in the Bitterroot Valley.
